Delta State Sapele "Brothel" Operation: Not Conducted by Police, DSP Bright Edafo

The Delta State Police Command, represented by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafo, has responded to videos circulating on social media depicting a security agency operation at a brothel in Sapele, Delta State.

DSP Edafo clarified that the security agency involved in the raid on the hotel and brothel was not comprised of police officers; rather, it was a task force specializing in combatting drug abuse and other illicit activities, with the assistance of local vigilantes.

In response to the outcry on social media regarding the alleged mistreatment of sex workers and violations of their human rights in the circulated videos, the Delta Police Command’s Public Relations Officer issued a statement.

He stated, “The Command has since condemned this video and reached out to everybody involved. Though it was carried out by the State government task force on drug abuse and other vices, and assisted by vigilantes, they were not policemen, action is still being taken”.

This incident occurred during an operation by the Delta State Human Trafficking Task Force, targeting a well-known hotel in Sapele and a brothel in the Ogun-Aja area. Their objective was to combat societal issues and maintain Delta State’s commitment to being drug-free.
