Nigerian music sensation Azeez Fashola, widely recognized as Naira Marley, has returned to Lagos, Nigeria, amidst ongoing inquiries into the tragic demise of Nigerian rapper Mohbad.
Following Mohbad’s untimely passing, concerned individuals worldwide have called for Naira Marley’s arrest, alongside Sam Larry for the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Across various social media platforms, Nigerians have expressed their sorrow and dismay, imploring the relevant authorities and law enforcement agencies to take appropriate actions to apprehend those responsible for Mohbad’s demise and expedite the pursuit of justice.
Notably, Sam Larry, who has been purportedly evading capture in Kenya, recently surfaced in Lagos for the interrogation process. Nigerian law enforcement agencies have officially confirmed his custody.
On Tuesday, October 2023, Naira Marley himself announced his presence in Lagos state, emphasizing his commitment to assist in the ongoing investigation and ensure that justice is served for Mohbad.
He wrote, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail”.
The Nigerian Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has issued a statement to clarify that Naira Marley is currently in custody, and an investigation has been initiated into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mohbad, as well as other related activities
“Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities… #justice4Mohbad #justiceforMohbad” Benjamin added.
