In an exclusive interview with Seun Okin on Channels TV, Ifeanyi Uba, the representative of Anambra South Senatorial District, clarified his decision to switch from the Young Progressive Party (YPP) to the All Progress Congress (APC). He emphasized that he didn’t abandon YPP but rather transitioned to the APC in order to be at the centre of decision-making. He also expressed his belief that his constituents have reaped the benefits of the policies initiated by Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos state.
He said “So for me, I think it’s time my people want me to join the center party and that’s the reason why I joined the APC.
“It wasn’t an easy decision, because I must appreciate that when I needed help the most politically YPP came to my rescue and I owe it to YPP. They were with me.
“But, now I’ve also been able to groom a lot of people in YPP and I think it’s time now to join the YPP so that I can bring the dividends of democracy and then Renewed Hope to my constituency,”
However, when questioned about the potential legal implications of leaving YPP and joining APC, Ifeanyi Uba responded by stating that he had engaged in careful consultation and had transparently communicated his stance and ideas to his party. He further asserted that there was no conflict or dispute regarding his departure from his former party to join the APC.
Ifeanyi Uba also said that every wealthy Igbo entrepreneur residing in Lagos state has derived benefits from the president’s initiatives and policies. He also highlighted the importance of his participation in the APC movement for the betterment of his people.
